DUNVEGAN CASTLE

·         Dunvegan, Isle of Skye, Scotland, United Kingdom

Take a Zodiac and land on the shores of the Castle of Dunvegan; seat of the Clan MacLeod chiefs since the 13th Century. One of the greatest and most renowned among the Hebridean strongholds, Dunvegan Castle is the only one to have been continuously owned and occupied by the same family over a period now spanning 8 centuries.

This morning we were the last group to go ashore and I was not amused since that meant we only had about 1 1/2 hours to see all of the sites.  I survived the zodiac ride, they just don’t seem to be getting better.

We met our guide and after a few minutes I dumped our group and headed off to do the gardens myself, I neglected to tell Bob of my hasty departure but he knew I was off flowering.

Again we got onto the last zodiac to make our way back to the ship.  We had some excitement during the ride as were had a low fly by from 2 fighter planes.  Again sad we did not get longer to see the sites but that is the problem with set trips.

Lunch today was a seafood festival, mostly raw so not our jam, so we had a light lunch.  We got seated with another couple who said they were leaving but they ending up staying and chatting for an hour or so.  She told us of the history of St. kilda,  so now we know more about what we are going to see tomorrow.  We also talked about Coronation St and other important topics.

We then booked our trip for next year, yes another expedition cruise this time to Norway, so we love the north.

Must run as we have trivia to see how we do tonight.

Then tonight we are off to the French restaurant for dinner.

I won’t need to eat for a month when we get off this ship.
