May 16th - Djupivogur, Iceland

We split for  this day of events.

Susan goes to GLACIER LAGOON

  • Duration: 8 Hours 30 Minutes

  • Yes you read correctly

See Europe's largest glacier up close in a Lagoon full of Icebergs. Drive just over 2.5 hours by bus from Djupivogur to the glacier lagoon, Fjallsárlón, located by Europe's largest glacier Vatnajokull. Embark on a zodiac to enjoy magnificent landscapes and get up close to the floating icebergs cruising throughout the glacier lake. Lunch is served at a restaurant close to the Lagoon area.

Yes I was up early and on a zodiac for 6:15 this morning.  It was a rough trip but then quickly on the bus for the long drive.  The landscape is so unique, most of these pics on my phone so they will take some time to get over here.

The lagoon was lovely and great to see the icebergs up close.

I will say lunch was subpar but the arctic char was good, but you all know about what I think of buffets.
Then back on the bus for a long drive back to the ship.  We got back just in time for last zodiacs to the ship so no chance to shop or to see the famous egg sculptures.

At trivia we came in 2nd and then our team meet to have dinner together.  Jane our senior member treated us to a Puffin playoff, women vs men.  I have to say the women won but only by one point.  A fun night an now off to bed as we head into our last full day on board.

Tomorrow we do an ATV ride so who knows
